On 14 March at 6 pm, the 39th Madeira Music Festival presents a piano recital by pianist Junyan Chen at the Baltazar Dias Municipal Theatre, in a concert that offers a musical journey through different aesthetic universes, eras and musical languages.
The programme features works by François Couperin, Olivier Messiaen, Maurice Ravel and Amy Beach, crossing French Baroque, 20th-century modernity and post-Romantic lyricism, in a journey that explores the expressive, timbral and poetic richness of the piano.
To be presented at the Baltazar Dias Municipal Theatre, this concert invites the audience to listen attentively and immersively, where tradition and modernity meet in a celebration of the art of piano playing.
The Artistic Direction of the Festival is in the hands of violinist Norberto Gomes.
