The 39th Madeira Music Festival presents MAAT – Saxophone Quartet, in a concert that celebrates the versatility and expressive richness of the saxophone quartet, in a journey that spans centuries, styles and musical languages.
The programme offers a unique journey, ranging from the medieval music of Hildegard von Bingen to the lyricism of Lili Boulanger, through the contemporary writing of Henriëtte Bosmans and Aleksandra Vrebalov, culminating in the rhythmic energy and jazz-inspired expressiveness of George Gershwin and Paul McCartney.
The concert will take place at the Legislative Assembly of Madeira on Saturday, 21 March, at 6 pm, inviting the audience to a surprising sound experience, where tradition and modernity intersect in a programme that is as eclectic as it is engaging.
The Artistic Direction of the Festival is in the hands of violinist Norberto Gomes.
