The parish of Monte hosts the 8th edition of “Monte do Imperador” (Emperor’s Hill), an event that commemorates the visit of Emperor Charles, the last Emperor of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, to the island of Madeira, where he spent his last days.
This event, organised by the Parish Council of Monte, recreates the period between 1921 and 1922 through music, dance, costumes, customs and gastronomy, where visitors can experience all of these sensations in a bucolic setting.
As in previous editions, the Parish Council invites visitors to bring along a prop or a piece of clothing from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
