The Natural History Museum of Funchal hosts the exhibition on the theme “Waterline” by Gonçalo Gomes, in a show that presents unique and exclusive images of marine biodiversity of the Madeira archipelago.
This exhibition is characterized by the use of new technologies with a series of video and photographic images in a project that meets the mission of the Natural History Museum of Funchal in the dissemination of marine life and awareness of the importance of ocean conservation and preservation of marine ecosystems.

ABM Madeira presents the concert “Fala-me de Música” – Duo Bandonica, as part of the 2026 season, featuring a series of performances across various municipalities of the Autonomous Region of Madeira.

The project brings together mandolinist Francisca Abreu and accordionist Alessio Ferrari, offering the audience a borderless musical journey, where mandolin and accordion engage in a dialogue across different cultures, eras, and traditions.

A unique opportunity to enjoy a concert combining instrumental dialogue, emotion, and shared experience, promoting cultural accessibility throughout the region.

Recognized as the oldest and youngest Mandolin Orchestra in Europe, a distinction of relevance in a region of excellence within the European community, the Madeira Mandolin Orchestra® presents itself in the 2026 Musical Season with a unique artistic proposal and diversified, contemplating programs adapted to the mandolin of the great classics of world music, striving for the quality that is recognized in the preservation and dissemination of the history of the mandolin in Madeira.
These concerts are held at the Holy Trinity Church and at Madeira Legislative Assembly.

Estreito’s Wine Harvest Festival

The Wine Harvest Festival gathers every year, in the first half of September, thousands of locals and tourists in the village of Estreito.
On Saturday morning, September 12th, the spotlight turns to Estreito de Câmara de Lobos, where the Harvest Festival takes place.
There, in a Madeiran property, the harvest will be carried out followed by an ethnographic parade counting on the participation of a vast number of folklore and ethnographic groups.
After the parade, the treading of the grapes is recreated, in a traditional winepress, with the free participation of those present under a festive atmosphere where there is music entertainment and regional gastronomy.

Inaugural Concert of the 2026/2027 Season | OCM

he Madeira Classical Orchestra opens its 2026/2027 Season under the artistic direction of violinist Norberto Gomes with a special inaugural concert conducted by Maestro Gianluca Marcianò, featuring soprano Milica Strahinic, one of the most promising voices of the new generation.
The concert will take place on 12 September at Madeira Congress Centre.

The programme features some of the best-known works from the Russian repertoire, beginning with Taneyev’s vibrant Oresteia Overture, followed by two famous arias by Tchaikovsky from Iolanta and Eugene Onegin. Soprano Milica Strahinic will bring these dramatic characters to life, highlighting the expressiveness and elegance of her voice.

Lúmen – Giant Puppets Show

On 19 September, Funchal welcomes Lúmen, a unique show featuring five-metre-tall giant puppets, music, light and movement. The performance involves around 50 participants from the local community, as well as several sports, recreational and musical organisations, in an experience that brings together art, music and movement.
Following a tour of Portugal and Spain, Lúmen makes its debut in Funchal, transforming the city’s streets into a large open-air stage. The show begins at 9:30 pm at Campo da Barca, before continuing as a procession along Rua João de Deus and Rua do Bom Jesus, ending at Praça do Município.

XI Poncha and Honey Festival

The eleventh edition of the Poncha and Honey Festival is organised by the Casa do Povo da Serra de Água and takes place from 23 to 24 January.
This festival honours the famous regional drink and the products needed to make it, such as honey, while at the same time boosting the parish’s economy.
As well as the exhibition, the event includes various technical talks aimed at farmers and beekeepers. There will also be musical entertainment on these days, with various regional groups and artists performing.

Machico hosts the “Mercado Quinhentista” between June 4th to 6th, the 16th-century Market”, an event that evokes the historical period of the discovery of the island, which has gained a prominent cultural status.

Organized by the MQ – Mercado Quinhentista – Associação de Recreação Histórica de Machico, in partnership with the Elementary and Secondary Schools of Machico, this initiative takes place in Machico´s downtown at Largo da Praça, in Alameda Dr. José António de Almada, and offers a number of cultural and musical activities.
