The Fortress of São João Baptista do Pico, in Funchal, will host the exhibition “”Siza and Oscar: beyond the sea””, by award-winning Brazilian photographer José Roberto Bassul.
The exhibition consists of a visual dialogue between the architecture of Siza Vieira in Brazil and that of Oscar Niemeyer in Portugal. Siza has only one project in Brazil, the Iberê Camargo Foundation building in Porto Alegre. In turn, Niemeyer has only one project built in Portugal, the Hotel Pestana Casino Park, in Funchal.
Upon noticing this coincidence, photographer-architect José Roberto Bassul imagined an abstract dialogue between two of the greatest exponents of modernist architecture around the world, between lines and curves, in the overseas movement that unites the two artists.
