At the end of May, the centre of Funchal takes on a new life with the recreation of traditional Madeiran celebrations.
All streets and alleys between Praça do Município and Sé Catedral (Cathedral) will be decorated for the festivities with open air esplanades.
Restaurants and bars on João Tavira, da Queimada de Cima, da Queimada de Baixo, Bispo, Ferreiros streets and Chafariz Square join in with this initiative, giving visitors the chance to sample traditional Madeiran delicacies and drinks.
Visitors will also have the chance to attend performance by philharmonic bands, music groups and university bands, which will provide constant entertainment.
