Praça do Povo once again hosts EXPOTROPICAL – the Subtropical Fruits and Flavours Show, an event organised by the Santa Maria Maior Community Centre in partnership with the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Rural Development.
This event celebrates Madeira’s rich variety of subtropical fruits and flavours and features a lively programme of entertainment, including live music concerts.
EXPOTROPICAL also embraces a strong charitable dimension, with all proceeds dedicated to supporting families in need within the parish.

Wall of Hope

Symbolic construction of the “Wall of Hope” On Saturday morning, children are invited to place a flower on the “Wall of Hope”, in a symbolic appeal for Peace. Accompanied by family members, the little ones carry their flower, probably picked in the backyard of their houses, so as to fulfil this tradition which dates back to 1979.

Competition Dressed for the occasion

The “Dresses for the Occasion ”competition returns in this edition of Madeira Classic Car Revival 2026, with the aim of creating a historic atmosphere, an event that takes place at Praça do Povo.
This competition will take place on May 23rd, with registrations taking place between 11.30 am and 1pm, and the competition itself between 2pm and 3pm.

Participants must be photographed exclusively by the organization’s official photographer; other photographs will not be accepted into the competition.
Both Portuguese and foreigners, over the age of 18, can participate. Interested parties simply need to present themselves with an accessory that allows them to “travel through time”.

Take part in this event and help us recreate the magic of the past centuries at Madeira Classic Car Revival 2026!

New Year’s Eve Show

The New Year’s fireworks show, lasting about eight minutes, is launched from across 58 fireworks stations located in Funchal’s amphitheater (26 stations), Cais 8 and Praia Almirante Reis (25 stations), at sea (5 stations) and Porto Santo Island (2 stations).

This majestic display of light and color, with modern pyrotechnic designs, will present effects never seen before for New Year’s in the region. In 2006, the show was internationally recognized by the Guinness Book of Records as “The Largest Fireworks Display in the World.”

Atlantic Festival

With 20 years of existence this is the official event that opens the door for Summer in Madeira. Every Saturday in June an international competition takes place in Funchal’s bay, where each participating country chooses a theme and exhibits the talent, novelties and advances in the pyrotechnics art.
The firework display is accompanied by music and a great diversity of colours.
