ABM Madeira presents the concert “Fala-me de Música” – Duo Bandonica, as part of the 2026 season, featuring a series of performances across various municipalities of the Autonomous Region of Madeira.

The project brings together mandolinist Francisca Abreu and accordionist Alessio Ferrari, offering the audience a borderless musical journey, where mandolin and accordion engage in a dialogue across different cultures, eras, and traditions.

A unique opportunity to enjoy a concert combining instrumental dialogue, emotion, and shared experience, promoting cultural accessibility throughout the region.

XXXIX Festival de Música da Madeira – Ahora Quinteto | OCM

O XXXIX Festival de Música da Madeira apresenta o Ahora Quintet, num concerto dedicado a uma das obras-primas da música de câmara do repertório romântico: o Quinteto de Cordas em Dó Maior, de Franz Schubert.

Este programa oferece uma experiência musical de grande profundidade expressiva, onde lirismo, intensidade emocional e subtileza dialogam numa escrita que explora ao máximo a riqueza tímbrica das cordas. O concerto terá lugar no Museu de Imprensa da Madeira, no dia 15 de março, às 18h00, com entrada gratuita, convidando o público a uma escuta próxima e envolvente, numa celebração da música de câmara no contexto singular do Festival de Música da Madeira.

A Direção Artística do Festival está a cargo do violinista Norberto Gomes.

Wine Festival

The Madeira Wine Festival is above all a cultural and ethnographic event.
This festival pays tribute to this sector which is, and always has been, extremely important to the region, attracting many tourists and locals to the various points where it is held.
The Madeira Wine Lounge will be set up in Praça do Povo, where a more cosmopolitan and contemporary atmosphere associated with the consumption of Madeira wines will be recreated, where you can taste the flavors of the region and the wines of each producing municipality.
There will also be a variety of musical entertainment.

Black Scabbardfish Festival

The bay of Câmara de Lobos annually hosts the Black Scabbardfish Festival, an event which is organised by the Câmara de Lobos Parish Council and which is, in fact, a great and enjoyable festival dedicated to the promotion of one of the most typical Madeiran gastronomic specialities. Combining fun and gastronomy, at the Black Scabbardfish Festival everyone is invited to participate in various activities such as show cookings, music and dance shows, among other activities which divulge a little about the fishing activity of the municipality and convey the gastronomic potential of this fish.

Estreito’s Wine Harvest Festival

The Wine Harvest Festival gathers every year, in the first half of September, thousands of locals and tourists in the village of Estreito.
On Saturday morning, September 5th, the spotlight turns to Estreito de Câmara de Lobos, where the Harvest Festival takes place.
There, in a Madeiran property, the harvest will be carried out followed by an ethnographic parade counting on the participation of a vast number of folklore and ethnographic groups.
After the parade, the treading of the grapes is recreated, in a traditional winepress, with the free participation of those present under a festive atmosphere where there is music entertainment and regional gastronomy.

Childbirth Masses (Missas do Parto)

From the second half of December until Christmas eve, Madeirans get up at the crack of dawn to participate in the masses honoring Our Lady.

After mass, in the church square, people share sandwiches of “carne de vinha d’alhos” (pork in wine and garlic), homemade liquors, songs and joy of the Christmas spirit. This is surely one of the best ways to get to know Madeirans’ Christmas spirit.

Carnival

Carnival is the frst big event in Madeira’s event calendar.
In all counties of the archipelago there are small parades and themed parties where everyone wears a carnival costume.

This event starts on Wednesday, before the “Entrudo” (Shrove or Fat Tuesday as it is known) and the fun goes on until the “Enterro do Osso” that takes place on the Saturday after Carnival day.
The biggest event of Carnival Season in Madeira happens on Saturday evening (Carnival Weekend) with the main parade in the streets of Funchal.

Numerous Samba groups parade in magnificent and colourful dance costumes. This is a real show of light, colour and music, that thousands join in to watch.

On Tuesday afternoon, you can also enjoy another parade, known as “Cortejo Trapalhão”, where comedy and satire are the main ingredients and anyone is free to join. Just make sure to wear a good disguise!
