Daughter of Portuguese father from Torres Vedras and German mother from Muttlangen, Daniela Washington Matias was born 17 years ago in Washington DC, USA. They moved to Madeira, where she has lived since she was a child. She sings since she was five, six years old, influenced by her father, who also sings and plays several instruments. She learned to play the piano and took music lessons. She likes to sing various styles of music, especially from the 60s. She rarely sings in Portuguese, although she has already sung Fado. Encouraged by her mother, she recently participated in the musical talent tv show “Deutschland sucht den Superstar”, in Germany, a branch of the British program “Pop Idol”, in which she performed James Brown “It’s a Man’s World”. In addition to the musical career, she would like to study journalism.
