ABM Madeira presents the concert “Fala-me de Música” – Duo Bandonica, as part of the 2026 season, featuring a series of performances across various municipalities of the Autonomous Region of Madeira.

The project brings together mandolinist Francisca Abreu and accordionist Alessio Ferrari, offering the audience a borderless musical journey, where mandolin and accordion engage in a dialogue across different cultures, eras, and traditions.

A unique opportunity to enjoy a concert combining instrumental dialogue, emotion, and shared experience, promoting cultural accessibility throughout the region.

EcoMusicalis Sol Oriens | Sol Occidens

EcoMusicalis Sol Oriens / Sol Occidens is an annual cycle of three concerts in a natural setting at sunrise or sunset, which until now has been dedicated exclusively to the area around Paúl da Serra.

The next concert will be at sunrise and is scheduled for 10 September at 07:30 on the splendid viewpoint located in Bica da Cana and will feature a performance by the fantastic group ‘Os grumpies’.

This project is the result of a protocol between the Regional Secretariat for Tourism and Culture | Regional Directorate for Culture and Retoiça – Cultural, Sporting and Recreational Association, which considers that ‘it is in the public interest for the Autonomous Region of Madeira to contribute to a quality and diversified cultural offer, which is essential for promoting and publicising the region as a cultural destination. These concerts aim to offer a series of experiences beyond the contemplation of beautiful music combined with nature. The concerts are free to attend and will be followed by breakfast, which will have an associated monetary cost per person.

«Aqui Acolá» Festival

The historical core of the Ponta do Sol municipality will host the 10th edition of the Festival “Aqui Acolá”, a cultural initiative held from May,14th to17th, that aims to heighten the cultural landscape and the economy of this emblematical location.

The programme covers a range of artistic, classical and contemporary manifestations, including musical performances, dance, painting, sculpture, theatre, poetry and photography exhibitions, among other activities.

Carnival

Carnival is the frst big event in Madeira’s event calendar.
In all counties of the archipelago there are small parades and themed parties where everyone wears a carnival costume.

This event starts on Wednesday, before the “Entrudo” (Shrove or Fat Tuesday as it is known) and the fun goes on until the “Enterro do Osso” that takes place on the Saturday after Carnival day.
The biggest event of Carnival Season in Madeira happens on Saturday evening (Carnival Weekend) with the main parade in the streets of Funchal.

Numerous Samba groups parade in magnificent and colourful dance costumes. This is a real show of light, colour and music, that thousands join in to watch.

On Tuesday afternoon, you can also enjoy another parade, known as “Cortejo Trapalhão”, where comedy and satire are the main ingredients and anyone is free to join. Just make sure to wear a good disguise!
